“Ownership”
Scripture:
Psalm 24:1
The earth is the LORD’S, and everything in it.
The world and all its people belong to Him. (NLT)
Observation:
Our triune God, without exception, is the final authority in all things; the buck stops with Yahweh. The LORD our God will always have the final Word and there is nothing in the entire physical universe, as well as in the unseen spiritual realms that happens apart from its Creator; the Almighty, Sovereign God. Jehovah has both the right and the privilege to claim everything He has created as His own personal possessions; all that is, is His.
Application:
The Creator is always in total control of that which He has created and nothing in all of creation happens without God’s knowledge (1 John 3:20) or authority to allow. God is everywhere at all times, for neither space nor time can confine His being or limit His supremacy. He sees and hears absolutely everything that goes on in His creation—nothing escapes God—nothing can be hidden from His all encompassing Presence. With God there is no darkness; everything is in His Light and visible for Him to see. He is the Father, Savior, Lord, King, Judge, Provider, Shepherd, Light, Word, Rock, Shelter, Lion and the Lamb, and the list goes on. In other words, God is Supreme—nothing trumps His sovereign will. If everything ceased to exist, only God would remain; He always has been, is today, and always will be (Psalm 90:2). That’s just the way it is! Every living, breathing organism on this earth depends on God for its very survival. It is only by God’s hand that He is able to provide for our every need; without exception (Acts 17:24-25). Our dependency on God is absolute and it is because of this that we owe Him every ounce of thanks and praise we can muster, because every provision He gives is a glorious act of perfect kindness and grace. It is for God’s benefit alone that we give Him the opportunity to reveal His glory by meeting our needs in whatever ways He chooses to do so. The Father of Life always knows what is best, and we should fully trust in His promise that He is both able and willing to take care of our every need, especially the needs of those people who know their Provider is God and rely on His abilities to provide what is needed and live in ways that honor God by acknowledging the glory that is His alone.
Prayer:
You are a great and mighty God, O LORD, and You are so gracious in our needs. Thank You for all the provisions You supply so that we can live and breathe to see another day. May Your Glory reign here on earth as it does in Heaven.
Amen

“Mighty Power”
Scripture:
Psalm 60:11
Oh, please help us against our enemies,
for all human help is useless. (NLT)
Observation:
There comes a time in every human life when our failure or defeat, and sometimes even death seems imminent—when the odds of winning the battles are slim to none at best. But it is during these private moments of desperation, while we are seeking a solution we believe is impossible, that many find the One and only true Hope we have; the only One who can guarantee our survival and victory, and the only One with enough sovereign power and abilities to transform any and all circumstances and give us new life.
Application:
All of our God given human abilities are extremely limited, not only when it comes to our ability to physically survive in a fallen world where survival of the fittest seems to be the rule, but we are even more limited when it comes to surviving the attacks of our most dangerous Adversary, the Devil. Whether it is physical or spiritual in nature, the battle for our lives rages on and there is but One Hope if we are to survive and win the battles, and that Hope my friends, is in the Mighty Saving Power of our Sovereign God. If we are to accept and believe that God is both willing and able to help us during our times of trouble and great need (2 Corinthians 6:2), we must first get to know our Savior. And once we have the Truth and a basic understanding of who God is and what He is able to do, it will not only give us comfort and confidence, but it will make it much easier to fully trust in His promises. It is not only imperative, but also very crucial to our survival that we believe in a Sovereign God; the only God who is in absolute control of His entire creation, and One who is actively involved in each individual life (1 Kings 8:39) no matter how insignificant it may be, especially the lives of those who know and call Him Abba, their Father (Psalm 1:6). The most important and the most difficult battles we face living on this earth is not the battle for our physical lives, although physical life is crucial, but the battle for our hearts and souls—the battles that are taking place in the unseen spiritual realms; the battles being fought against the evil powers of Satan where human abilities and strengths are never enough, especially when we go to battle on our own. You cannot win the battles of life by your own human efforts apart from God, for when you try, you will surely loose. But when you have the life-saving Power of God, the same Mighty Power that raised Christ from the dead and into eternal life, you are assured a glorious victory with your name written by the Hand of God into the Book of Life with the door to Heaven opened and waiting for you to enter.
Prayer:
Thank You, O LORD, for who You are and all that You have done for Your people. Everyone on this earth would be without a way to You, but Your Mighty Voice speaks out in truth and power and saves those who listen from utter destruction.
Amen

“One Glorious Day”
Scripture:
Isaiah 45:21, 22
“There is no other God besides Me,
A just God and a Savior;
There is none besides Me.
Look to Me, and be saved, all you ends of the earth!
For I am God, and there is no other.” (NKJ)
Observation:
There is only One, who has the right to claim the authority of being called God. And He, Yahweh, is indeed, a great and awesome God; One whose is faithful to love and the only One who always keeps His promises to those who love Him in return and keep His commands (Daniel 9:4). Because of God’s power and majesty those who live by His Name can pray with confidence and comfort because He has more than enough power (1 Chronicles 29:11-12) to change any circumstance at any time when it serves His righteous purposes and final plan. Because the Sovereign Lord our God is both merciful and forgiving, He not only has the compassion to forgive us for our rebellious acts against Him, but He also has the power to save us (Isaiah 63:2) from anything that seeks to harm or destroy us, including all of our own self-destructive behaviors which lead us straight into hell and beyond.
Application:
What we have in our awesome God, the One who created all things, is the only God who can do all things—many of which are not even on our radar screen. We have a God that is so far above us and so much bigger than the entire universe that we should stand in awe of who He is. When you have the Lord God as your Savior, my friends, you should never let your hearts be troubled, because whatever this fallen and decaying world does or tries to do to you, you will not perish. You may suffer and shed many tears for a season, but at the appropriate time you will share in the Glory which is found only in Christ Jesus our Lord. With the LORD as your Leader and your Guide you are assured a safe and successful journey Home where you will be met by God Himself and welcomed by all His mighty angels and all the saints throughout the ages who have gone before you. What a glorious day that will be!
Prayer:
You, O LORD, are the only living God; the One who provides everything that we need. You give us the breath of life and save us from death and decay. Thank You, dear Lord, for all that You are, and for all that You do. You are mighty to save and powerful enough to defeat any enemy, big or small.
Amen

“Don’t Be Fooled”
Scripture:
Proverbs 10:23
Doing wrong is fun for a fool,
while wise conduct is a pleasure to the wise. (NLT)
Observation:
Whenever we do anything that is opposed to the will of our righteous and holy God, it is sin. And the reason that sin is so tempting and so easily given into is because we are inherently sinners by nature. We are a self-centered and greedy people, easily convinced that bad is good and good is bad; the age old lies of Satan, who is the creator of all deceit and the one who caused the fall of mankind.
Application:
The Devil’s clever deceitfulness is alive and well today; taking the world down a path of death and destruction, which is the very curse that sin has brought upon this world. You may think that the battles of good verses evil are nothing but fairy tales, but don’t be duped into believing this lie, my friends, because every person, faces everyday, very real battles; battles that bring life and battles that bring death—battles that determine our eternal and final destination. Just as our physical world is ravaged by war and famine and disease, so, too, is the spiritual world ravaged in battle for the precious souls of God’s created people. Satan is the prince of this cursed world and does not want the Truth to be known. This is why we are taught by the governments of the world and told by the media that truth does not exist and that doing evil is not really all that bad. If you think things are upside down now wait until that day when the archangel Michael will finally defeat the Devil and all the fallen angels who follow him, and kicks them out of the heavenly realms; releasing them upon the earth (Revelation 12:7-9) where they will unleash their last stand before being condemned and sent into the Lake of Fire forever (Revelation 20:10). Even though we see much suffering and the killing of innocent lives in the world today, you don’t want to be here during the tribulation period, my friends, because Satan’s assault on this earth will bring down the wrath of God that has never been felt before. And for all those who have turned away from the Truth of God to follow the world, they, too, will join Satan in the Lake of Fire ( Revelation 20:15); a hell that will not only be far worse than the tribulation period of God’s final wrath, but a hell where there is neither relief, nor end.
Prayer:
Thank You, dear Lord, for giving us the Truth which sets us free from the bondage of sin and the fear of dying. Thank You for the warnings you have so graciously provided. Please continue, O God, to protect us from the lies of the Enemy that sound so good, but are really so deadly.
Amen

“All Things New”
Scripture:
2 Corinthians 4:16-18
That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are quite small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us an immeasurably great glory that will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see right now; rather, we look forward to what we have not yet seen. For the troubles we see will soon be over, but the joys to come will last forever. (NLT)
Observation:
Because of the curse that sin has brought upon this world there never has been nor will there ever be a trouble-free existence for any living being this side of Heaven. This is just the way it is—there is no other way around it. Since the beginning of time mankind has sought to create the utopian life-style for itself and has never succeeded, because flawed people living in a flawed world are incapable of creating anything that is unflawed—imperfectness can never create that which is perfect—it is simply not possible. There is only One who is able to create something that is perfect and without flaws—our Perfect God and Creator, Christ Jesus. And it’s God’s promise to make all things new (Revelation 21:5) and perfect after the final judgment of the enemies of God and the ending of time (Revelation 22:3-6). He, the Lord our Perfect God, will restore the entire universe to perfection; including the earth and all those who became God’s own children by submitting their lives to Him and accepting Christ as their only Lord and Savior.
Application:
Our imperfect, finite minds cannot even begin to fathom a perfect existence in a perfect universe that is without the curse of time. God tells us in His Word that even the worst possible trouble we could ever experience in this life is absolutely incomparable to the Glory of God and our share in it (Romans 8:18). We have a glorious Savior, my friends, who promise to make our Christian lives worth all the trouble that living in this sin-filled and evil world brings. God wants us to focus on the eternal ramifications for how we live on this planet, for our lives are extremely short lived, especially when compared to eternity. I believe the question we all should be asking ourselves is this: Am I looking only to gain what the world offers and the approval of mankind denying the afterlife, or am I striving to live as God would have me live according to His Word, focusing on Him and eternity, rather than on my short life lived in the here and now? How you answer this basic question is one of the most important of your life, because the time allotted for you to answer is not only short lived, but how short is uncertain as well.
Prayer:
Thank You, dear Lord, for allowing me to choose You and eternal life. Without Your promise this life would not be worth the trouble—it would not be worth living. Thank You for all You promise, for it is Your promises that keep us alive.
Amen

“Living Water”
Scripture:
Psalm 36:9
For You are the Fountain of Life,
the Light by which we see. (NLT)
Observation:
The picture I receive of the Fountain mentioned above is an inexhaustible source of refreshing living water that is replenishing the pool at the bottom with the kind of clear, purified water that is necessary to sustain that which is holy; as God is holy. And in order to find this inexhaustible source for holy living we must also have an unending Source of Light (1 John 1:5), for without this everlasting Light all we would know is darkness and uncertainty and guessing and chance while tumbling head over heal in terror toward the cliff of the abyss where, one day, we are certain to fall over its edge with nothing to grab hold of.
Application:
Our incredible Creator, the God of the universe, is our only Source for life, because without the Power of His Word there would be either nothing at all or all there was would be in total chaos—without order or purpose (Hebrews 1:3). Without the Fountain of Living Water replenishing us, our lives would become meaningless, self-indulgent, and fruitless; never satisfying and ultimately ending in darkness and despair. What a priceless gift that our Lord has given us, my friends; the gift of His Grace (Romans 6:14) which flows freely from the Fountain of Life. For without His free flowing abundant Grace the rivers of living water could never be found, for His Light would no longer shine, leaving us to live on our own with defeat and despair as our only hope. If you desire a fulfilling and meaningful life, you must take advantage of the Light He provides so you can find and tap into His everlasting Fountain of Life—the only Source for the Living Water that gives and sustains everlasting life. We have basically two choices, my friends; life or death, light or darkness, God or the world, and God gives most of us an opportunity to freely choose one way or the other. There are no in-betweens; no grey areas and you cannot have both. So choose wisely and choose quickly, dear friend, because if you wait too long the choice may be made for you and it is one that you will be forever begging God to reverse—an effort of no avail.
Prayer:
Dear God, how I praise You for not allowing my time to run out before I could choose to follow You into everlasting life. Thank You for the Living Water that sustains and the opportunity to experience it. For without Your abundant mercy and grace we would all be lost in the abyss forever.
Amen

“Life Sustainer”
Scripture:
Jeremiah 15:16
Your words are what sustain me. They bring me great joy and are my heart’s delight,
for I bear your name, O LORD God Almighty. (NLT)
Observation:
Not only do the words of our Almighty Creator hold the universe together (Hebrews 1:3) so we can breathe and live (Job 34:14-15) on one of the many planets that God calls earth, but His Written Word, the Bible, is the living Word of God that gives us everything we need in order to live an ongoing, righteous life that brings honor to God and to ourselves as well. Once we have the Holy Spirit of God living in our hearts opening our eyes to truth and understanding, we will be filled with the kind of non-decaying, everlasting joy and peace that only comes from knowing the LORD our God—the One who has saved us from our self-destructing iniquities and given us a true reason to live for Him.
Application:
God is the only One who is perfectly honest and trustworthy. Every word He speaks is the absolute, undeniable truth that not only lights the paths in which we need to follow throughout our entire live-journeys, but it is the Promise of His Word that saves the very life of our souls (Hebrews 6:16-19) from being thrown in the Lake of Fire for eternity—a place you do not want to experience. God’s Word brings joy to the joyless, hope to the hopeless, and peace to those who know no peace. Know matter who you are or where you live or what you have done, and no matter what your circumstances may be, God’s Word has the power to change any life at any time. The world preaches otherwise, but you must not buy into the lies about our Great and faithful God. And you need never feel alone, my friends, because the Power of God’s Living Words will bring His Life into yours.
Prayer:
Thank You for Your grace, dear Lord, that allows me to breathe and live for you. Thank you for Your life-giving Word to sustain us even in the most troubling of times. And most of all, my God, thank you for Your abounding mercy that You show us each and every day.
Amen
